Application of electrical panels within smart infrastructure

In infrastructure projects such as tunnels, bridges, locks, data centers, traffic centers or power grids, reliability is essential. Downtime or failures can lead to major safety risks or social disruption.

Our control panels ensure stable operation of systems such as traffic lights, ventilation, pumps, lighting, sensors and energy distribution. Thanks to integration with networks (such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP or fiber optics), these systems can be intelligently controlled, monitored and optimized from one central platform – locally or remotely.

Custom engineering and panel building

Gerbin Control develops and builds fully customized control panels for infrastructure applications. Each panel is designed in EPLAN, built according to NEN-EN-IEC 61439, and tested for reliability, safety and durability.

We take into account installation requirements such as space utilization, ventilation, EMC sensitivity and IP degree of protection when designing. Our panels are suitable for installation in technical rooms, basements, distribution boxes or outdoor installations – whether or not in stainless steel or climate-controlled enclosures.

Gerbin Control panels are prepared for full network integration. Whether interfacing with SCADA, building management systems or remote monitoring solutions, we ensure stable and secure communication between the infrastructure elements and the central control system.

This makes it possible to collect data, detect failures early and control plants efficiently based on real-time input or scheduling software.

Our systems are equipped with comprehensive monitoring of current, voltage, temperature and status of connected systems. Any failures are reported immediately via HMI or SCADA, including clear error codes and signaling. This helps ensure quick and targeted intervention and maximize infrastructure availability.

Where necessary, we integrate emergency facilities, backup power supplies or surge protection – all focused on continuity and safety.

Our weighing and dosing systems are built with flexibility and ease of maintenance in mind. Panel layouts are clear, signals are easy to trace and the software is modular. As a result, changes, upgrades or recipe adjustments can be made quickly and easily, without complex programming.

Frequently asked questions about weighing and dosing automation

What are electrical panels for smart infrastructure?

These are electrical control panels used in smart infrastructure systems, such as tunnels, bridges, energy distribution, traffic management or building systems. They are the beating heart of installations and provide safe distribution, control and monitoring of electrical energy and signals within complex networks.

Gerbin Control provides electrical panels for a variety of infrastructure applications, including:

-Traffic control installations

-Tunnel systems (ventilation, lighting, pumps)

-Bridge and lock operation

-Smart grid energy grids

-Building Management Systems

-Rail and charging infrastructure

Each application requires specific requirements in terms of circuitry, network communication, security and construction form. We tailor our panels completely to those requirements.

Yes. Our panels support communication protocols such as Profinet, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA and fiber optic interfaces. This allows them to be easily interfaced with SCADA, BMS or cloud-based monitoring platforms. This provides an integrated and real-time overview of the status of the infrastructure.

We build according to applicable standards (such as NEN-EN-IEC 61439) and use only industrial components from reputable brands. Each panel is thoroughly tested for electrical safety, thermal load, EMC behavior and functioning under real conditions. We can also integrate emergency power supplies, UPS systems or redundancies for critical applications.

Absolutely. If required, we supply the panels in weatherproof enclosures (IP65 or higher), stainless steel cabinets or with climate control technology for outdoor installation or areas with moisture, dust or temperature fluctuations. Panel construction and material selection are fully matched to the location and environmental conditions.

Yes. In addition to design and construction, we support installation, commissioning and interfacing with upstream systems. We provide clear schematics, manuals and advise on maintenance and future management. We can also service or modify system expansions or replacements.
